This ebook looks at issues and persons who were a part of Anastasias rise, before he got to be the boss of the Gambino Crime Family of New York in 1951. On one occasion he stood up for the Mangano brothers who he eventually had murdered in April 1951.

Between 1940-1941 Anastasia ruled the Brooklyn waterfront. He used his underlings to carry out hits on rivals who invaded his territory. Among these were Anthony Romeo and Peter Panto. The story of the Gambino family of crime is intermeshed with the history of the International Longshoremens Union that is based in Brooklyn. Anastasia determined the leaders of the unions, its delegates, etc. He also extorted vast amounts from the union, amounting to $35,000 and $40,000 payments before the middle of the 20th Century. This ebook traces Albert Anastasia until his service as a U.S. Army Master Sergeant beginning in 1942.
